2018 St. Jude Memphis Marathon Weekend

MEMPHIS, TN (LPL) — El St. Jude Memphis Marathon Weekend 2018 es el 1 de diciembre y se puede decir que ya es un éxito total por tener casi todas las inscripciones agotadas para sus cinco categorías: maratón completo, medio maratón, 10 km, 5 km y maratón de niños de 1 milla.

Más de 25 mil corredores participarán este año, al igual que en otras ocasiones -25.000 corredores participaron en el maratón del 2017-, y todo con el único propósito de recaudar fondos para los niños del St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital; por eso son llamados “Héroes del St. Jude”.

Como tal, el St. Jude Memphis Marathon Weekend es el evento principal para el programa de Héroes del St. Jude o St. Jude Heroes, como se dice en inglés.

Este año, el evento será un poco diferente, ya que tendrá rutas nuevas para cada carrera y hasta un festival en la línea de llegada para celebrar.

“Nuestras nuevas y emocionantes rutas fueron diseñadas para mejorar la experiencia general del evento, proporcionar una excelente vista de las áreas más atractivas de Memphis y mantener la seguridad de todos los participantes. Todas las rutas de las carreras incluyen el campus del St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, uno de los centros de investigación de cáncer pediátrico más importantes del mundo. Después de cruzar la línea de la meta final, tendremos un festival en el AutoZone Park”, se lee en la página web del St. Jude Memphis Marathon Weekend 2018.

Las tarifas de inscripción ayudan al hospital a organizar la carrera, mientras que las donaciones o los fondos recaudados por cada “Héroe del St. Jude” sirven para seguir buscando curas para salvar a los niños con cáncer.

El año pasado, los “Héroes del St. Jude” lograron recaudar la cantidad récord de 10.3 millones de dólares. St. Jude espera igualar esa suma o superarla con el próximo maratón.

MEMPHIS, TN (LPL) — The 2018 St. Jude Memphis Marathon Weekend will take place on December 1 and it can be said that it is already a total success, as registrations are practically sold out for the five categories: full marathon, half marathon, 10K, 5K, and the 1-mile kids marathon.

More than 25,000 runners will participate this year with the sole purpose of raising funds for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital; that’s why they’re known as “St. Jude Heroes.”

As such, the St. Jude Memphis Marathon Weekend is the largest single-day fundraising event for the hospital.

This year, the event will be a bit different, as it will have new courses for each race and even a festival at the end to celebrate.

“Our exciting new courses were designed to enhance the overall event experience, provide a great snapshot of Memphis culture and maintain safety for all participants. All courses run through the campus of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, one of the world’s premier pediatric cancer research centers. After crossing the finish line, celebrate at our finish festival at AutoZone Park,” the organizers state on the marathon’s website.

The registration fees help the hospital to organize the race, while the donations or the funds raised by each “St. Jude Hero” serve to continue looking for cures to save children with cancer.

Last year, the “St. Jude Heroes” managed to raise the record amount of $10.3 million. St. Jude hopes to match that amount or surpass it with the next marathon.
