Federer to link up with Nadal in last dance at Laver Cup

London, Sep 22 (EFE).- Swiss superstar Roger Federer is to say farewell to professional tennis on Friday with a doubles match alongside the Spanish Rafael Nadal at the Laver Cup in London.

The line-up for the opening day revealed the pairing on Thursday.

Federer and Nadal played together in the first edition of the Cup, in Prague 2017.

The fixture will take place during the night session, following Andy Murray’s match against Alex de Miñaur, which is programmed to start at 19:00 local time.

Their rivals will be the American duo Jack Sock and Frances Tiafoe.

This will be Federer’s only match at the Laver Cup.

It will also be his first match since he lost in the quarter-finals of Wimbledon in 2021.

Federer tweeted Thursday: “Tomorrow night. My last match. Doubles with Rafael Nadal.”

The Spaniard responded: “An honor and a real pleasure.”

Federer, who has won 20 Grand Slams, announced his decision to retire on September 15. EFE
