Ray Liotta honored posthumously on Hollywood Walk of Fame

Los Angeles, Feb 24 (EFE).- A star bearing the name of the late Ray Liotta was unveiled Friday on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at a ceremony attended by his daughter, fiance and a number of those who worked with the actor during a career that spanned more than four decades.

“I’m so touched to be accepting this honor on behalf of my dad. I couldn’t be more proud of him,” 24-year-old Karsen Liotta said during the event in Los Angeles.

“He was a one of a kind actor and the best friend, brother and father anyone could have asked for. I lucked out with you,” she said nearly nine months after Liotta’s death at the age of 67.

Karsen read from a letter sent by Martin Scorsese, director of “Goodfellas,” the 1990 mobster epic that made Liotta an international star.

Scorsese, who was unable to be present for the unveiling, wrote that he had also hoped to make another film with Liotta, describing him as “one of the greats.”

“I was deeply inspired by Ray, he was the epitome of an actor’s actor,” said Taran Egerton, who appeared with Liotta in the television miniseries “Black Bird.”

“He was one of those rare artists that brought all of himself into his work, all of his intensity, all of his vulnerability and, in the case of our show, all of his love,” Egerton said.

Also on hand was Elizabeth Banks, who directed Liotta in “Cocaine Bear,” released Friday.

“I always admired his acting, but I genuinely enjoyed him as a human,” she said. “Although he’s known for playing tough guys, I found him to be charming and a little mischievous which made him charming as an actor and as a man, and truly perfect for Cocaine Bear.”

Liotta died on May 26, 2022, in the Dominican Republic, where he was filming the thriller “Dangerous Waters.”

The New Jersey native entered television in 1978 with a role on a soap opera and his Hollywood breakthrough came in 1986 with “Something Wild.” EFE mrl/dr
