THP Increases Patrols During Memorial Day Weekend

MEMPHIS, TN (WREG) — The Tennessee Highway Patrol said they are increasing patrols to reduce the number of crashes across the state during Memorial Day weekend.

THP will conduct saturation patrols, seat belt, and sobriety checkpoints as well as increase visibility on high-crash corridors throughout the summer.

The patrols will begin at 6 p.m. on Friday, May 27, and end at 5:59 a.m. on Tuesday, May 31.

According to THP, 10 people were killed in crashes during Memorial Day weekend last year.

State troopers also arrested 78 individuals on suspicion of DUI and ticketed 743 motorists for violation of the seat belt law and issued 1,867 speeding citations during last year’s Memorial Day holiday.

MEMPHIS, TN (LPL/WREG) — La Patrulla de Carreteras de Tennessee dijo que está aumentando las patrullas para reducir la cantidad de accidentes en todo el estado durante el fin de semana del Día de los Caídos.

THP llevará a cabo patrullas de saturación, cinturones de seguridad y puntos de control de sobriedad, así como también aumentará la visibilidad en los corredores de alta colisión durante todo el verano.

Los patrullajes comenzarán a las 6 p.m. el viernes 27 de mayo y finaliza a las 5:59 a. m. del martes 31 de mayo.

Según THP, 10 personas murieron en accidentes durante el fin de semana del Día de los Caídos el año pasado.

La policía estatal también arrestó a 78 personas bajo sospecha de DUI y multaron a 743 automovilistas por violar la ley del cinturón de seguridad y emitieron 1,867 citaciones por exceso de velocidad durante el feriado del Día de los Caídos del año pasado.
