Spain PM Pedro Sánchez explores business ties in official visit to Kenya

Nairobi, Oct 26 (EFE).- Spain’s prime minister Pedro Sánchez on Wednesday began his official visit to Kenya, where he spoke with Spanish business representatives ahead of a meeting with the east African nation’s president William Ruto.

Sánchez arrived in Nairobi from Madrid on Tuesday in what was the first official visit by a Spanish PM to the African nation.

On Wednesday, he met with Kenya-based representatives of Spanish firms in the capital, where he discussed business challenges and opportunities that are opening in other sectors such as infrastructure, renewable energies and the agribusiness industry.

The Spanish trade and tourism minister Reyes Maroto was also present in the meeting.

After the meeting, Sánchez headed to Nairobi’s State House where he is to meet with Ruto for talks on bilateral relations and international policy issues.

Sánchez’s agenda during his state visit also includes planting a tree at the United Nations building in the city and a meeting with a group of Spanish scientists at the Industrial Research and Development Center.

After Nairobi, the Spanish president is expected in South Africa for another official visit. EFE
