Graceland Has Big Plans to Celebrate Elvis’ 85th Birthday

MEMPHIS, TN (LPL) — Como ya es tradición, Graceland estará celebrando el cumpleaños de Elvis Presley del 8 al 11 de enero. Sin embargo, en este año 2020 la fiesta será mucho más grande, ya que, de estar vivo aún, éste sería el cumpleaños núm. 85 del “Rey del Rock and Roll”.

La gran celebración inicia con la “Ceremonia Anual de Proclamación del Cumpleaños de Elvis”, que será el miércoles, 8 de enero, a las 9 AM (Hora Centro) en el jardín norte de la Mansión de Graceland. Después de dicha proclamación, se cortará un gran pastel en honor a Elvis, que luego será servido con café a todos los presentes en el restaurante Vernon’s Smokehouse, ubicado enfrente de la mansión, en el nuevo Elvis Presley’s Memphis. La entrada para este evento es gratis.

Otros de los eventos principales que están incluidos en esta festividad son:

¤ La Subasta en Graceland. Ésta será llevada a cabo el 8 de enero, a las 11 AM, en el Guest House Theater, The Guest House at Graceland.

¤ La Fiesta de Cumpleaños de Elvis, con un Tour Nocturno en la Mansión. Este evento tendrá lugar el 8 de enero, de 5 PM a 9 PM, entre la Mansión de Graceland y Elvis Presley’s Memphis. Las entradas cuestan $70 (adultos) y $40 (niños de 7 a 12 años).

¤ Un Concierto con la Orquesta Sinfónica de Memphis y Terry Mike Jeffrey. Este concierto será realizado el 10 de enero, a las 7:30 PM, en Soundstage at Graceland. Las entradas cuestan entre $35 y $65.

¤ Un Concierto en Vivo con Elvis en Pantalla Grande. En este show, Elvis estará siendo acompañado por James Burton, Glen Hardin y Ronnie Tutt; estos tres miembros de la banda TCB estarán reunidos por primera vez en un escenario de Graceland. Además, se contará con la presencia de Priscilla Presley y Jerry Schilling. El concierto será en Soundstage at Graceland; las entradas cuestan entre $40 y $70.

Por si fuera poco, Elvis Presley Enterprises ha organizado una serie de conversaciones sobre Elvis, entre otros eventos, que se estarán llevando a cabo durante estos cuatro días de celebración.

Elvis Presley nació en Tupelo, Mississippi, el 8 de enero de 1935, y se mudó a Memphis con sus padres cuando apenas tenía 13 años de edad. Grabó su primera canción, “That’s All Right”, en el Estudio Sun de Memphis en 1954.

Graceland fue su residencia principal hasta el día de su muerte, la cual ocurrió el 16 de agosto de 1977. Elvis tenía 42 años de edad.

MEMPHIS, TN (LPL) — Being a long-standing tradition, Graceland will be celebrating Elvis Presley’s birthday from January 8 to January 11. This year, however, the party will be much bigger, as it would have been the 85^th birthday of the “King of Rock and Roll” if he were still alive today.

The festivities begin with the “Annual Elvis Birthday Proclamation Ceremony,” which will take place on Wednesday, January 8, at 9 AM (Central Time) on Graceland’s North Lawn. After the proclamation, an epic birthday cake will be cut in honor of Elvis, and served with coffee to everyone at Vernon’s Smokehouse, which is located across the street from the mansion. Admission to this event is free.

Other main events that are included in this celebration are:

¤ The Auction at Graceland. This auction will be held on January 8, at 11 AM, at the Guest House Theater, The Guest House at Graceland.

¤ Elvis Birthday Bash and Evening Tour. This event will take place on January 8, from 5 PM to 9 PM, between the Graceland Mansion and Elvis Presley’s Memphis. Tickets are $70 (adults) and $40 (children ages 7 to 12).

¤ Elvis 85^th Birthday Pops Concert with Terry Mike Jeffrey and the Memphis Symphony Orchestra. This concert will be held on January 10, at 7:30 PM, at Soundstage at Graceland. Tickets are $35-$65.

¤ Elvis Live in Concert Featuring Special Guests Priscilla Presley, Jerry Schilling and the TCB Band. In this show, Elvis will be accompanied by James Burton, Glen Hardin and Ronnie Tutt; these three members of the TCB band will be performing together for the first time on a Graceland stage. The concert will be held at Soundstage at Graceland; Tickets are $40-$70.

As if that were not enough, Elvis Presley Enterprises has organized a series of conversations about Elvis, among other events, that will be taking place during these four days of celebration.

Elvis Presley was born in Tupelo, Mississippi, on January 8, 1935, and moved to Memphis with his parents when he was 13 years old. He recorded his first song, “That’s All Right,” at Sun Studio in Memphis in 1954.

Graceland was Elvis’ home until the day of his death, which happened on August 16, 1977. He was 42.
