Big Plans for the Proposed Parkway Over Shelby Farms

“It would really mess up this park if they took a major road right through the middle of it,” said Joyce Freeland, who often can be found walking her dogs at Shelby Farms Park.

She’s adamant that a major thoroughfare is not what the area needs.

“I do understand that Farm Road and Mullins Station get a lot of traffic and they’re both just two-lane roads,” she said. “If they could just expand those just a little bit, like one lane, I think that would help.”

However, the Proposed Kirby Parkway is a much bigger venture.

It would start at Walnut Grove and I-240, where Christian Brothers High School and Baptist Hospital are.

This stretch would be four lanes with a median.
