Great Britain dominates first round of Jumping Nations Cup

Barcelona, Sep 28 (EFE).- Great Britain dominated the first day of the Jumping Nations Cup in Barcelona on Thursday, with a perfect round from its four riders, who finished ahead of Brazil and Germany.
Tim Greedley, Robert Whitaker and, above all, Harry Charles, showed great form to finish the day on top of the classification and are favorites to defeat Brazil, Germany, Switzerland, reigning champions Belgium, United States, Ireland and France in Sunday’s final organized by FEI Fédération Équestre Internationale at the Real Club de Polo.
Brazil and the United States, in addition to lifting the trophy, are both looking to qualify for the Olympic Games, with the better of the two countries earning a spot for Paris 2024.
Many of the other countries participating in the Nations Cup have already qualified for the Olympics.
Hosts Spain, together with the other six countries that failed to qualify for the final – Mexico, Netherlands, Italy, Australia, Argentina and Uzbekistan – are to take part in the Challenge Cup on Saturday.
The 111th Barcelona International Jumping Competition is hosting for the tenth consecutive year the final of the Longines FEI Jumping Nations Cup, one of the most important events on the international equestrian calendar.
The Real Club de Polo will host a total of ten competitions such as the Copa de la Reina. EFE
