Haaland completes Manchester City transfer

London, Jun 13 (EFE).- Erling Haaland on Monday completed his transfer to Premier League champions Manchester City from Borussia Dortmund, the English club announced.

The Norway striker, 21, agreed a five-year contract that would keep him at the Etihad until 2027 after City paid his buyout clause of 51.1 million pounds ($64 million).

“This is a proud day for me and my family,” Haaland said in a club statement.

“I have always watched City and have loved doing so in recent seasons. You can’t help but admire their style of play, it’s exciting and they create a lot of chances, which is perfect for a player like me,” the player, whose father Alfie also played for City, added.

“There are so many world-class players in this squad and Pep (Guardiola) is one of the greatest managers of all-time, so I believe I am in the right place to fulfill my ambitions.”

Haaland, one of Europe’s hottest footballing properties, scored 29 times for Dortmund last season despite injuries restricting him to just 30 appearances.

He has also netted 20 goals in 22 games for Norway. EFE
