Haaland hits another hattrick as City cruise past Wolves

Sports Desk, Jan 22 (EFE).- Erling Haaland scored a hattrick – his fourth of the season – as Manchester City thrashed Wolverhampton Wanderers 3-0 at the Etihad on Sunday.

The Norwegian striker’s three goals bring his total in the league for the season to 25 after just 20 matches.

City opened the scoring when Haaland headed in from Kevin de Bruyne’s cross as half-time approached.

The home side doubled their advantage from the penalty spot shortly after the break, Haaland sweeping home after Ruben Neves had tripped Ilkay Gundogan.

Wolves, who have improved since Julen Lopetegui took over during the World Cup break, gifted Haaland his third less than five minutes later when goalkeeper Jose Sa gave the ball to Mahrez, who teed up the Norwegian to tap in his third.

The win sees City close the gap to Arsenal to five points, with the Gunners taking on fourth-placed Man United on Sunday. EFE
