Kherson power supplies partially restored

Moscow, Nov 7 (EFE).- Electricity and water supplies as well as communications have been partially restored in Ukraine’s Kherson region after some power lines were reported to be damaged by an alleged attack by Ukrainian forces, said Russian authorities via Telegram on Monday.

Kirill Stremousov, deputy head of the region’s Russian-installed council accused the Ukrainian forces in a radio interview of “trying to cut off the supply lines of our forces stationed in the Kherson Region and they are also trying to cut off the land corridor to Crimea,” according to the Russian state-owned news agency TASS.

On Sunday, Stremousov claimed there had been another alleged attack by Ukrainian forces on the Kakhovka dam with US HIMARS multiple rocket launchers. On Monday, he informed through his Telegram channel that “The Kakhovskaya dam is stable.”

Furthermore, the Russian-installed council suspended on Monday all civilian vehicles crossing the Dnieper River by water, which includes river taxis, barges, and other watercraft.

According to Russian authorities, the transport of supplies, like food or medicines, through the river is not to be suspended.

The move comes as part of a Russian evacuation of civilians in Kherson to the left bank of the Dnipro River due to the risk of bombing in the area. EFE mos/aef/ch
