Belgium knocked out of World Cup after 0-0 vs Croatia

Doha, Dec 1 (EFE).- Belgium crashed out of the World Cup after a goalless draw with Croatia on Thursday at Ahman bin Ali stadium.

The star-studded Red Devils, who are ranked second in the world and came third at the last World Cup four years ago, had several chances to get the goal that could have seen them qualify, with second half substitute Romelu Lukaku hitting the post and twice missing from inside the six-yard box.

While Belgium had their chances, in the end they were deservedly eliminated from the tournament after only winning one match and scoring one goal in the group.

Croatia, with ageless captain Luka Modric pulling the strings from midfield, also had their own opportunities to break the deadlock, and showed greater control and composure on the ball throughout.

The Croats also thought they had earned a first half penalty, but it was overruled by VAR for a questionable offside decision, one of many that have littered the competition so far.

The 0-0 draw means Croatia finished second in group F, behind surprise winners Morocco, who beat Canada 2-1 on Thursday. EFE
