Harrison Ford on red carpet as Indiana Jones for last time at Cannes
Cannes, France, May 18 (EFE).- US actor Harrison Ford on Thursday was king of the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival, where he appeared for the last time as Indiana Jones, given that the film that was screened at the French moviefest is the final one in the multi-film saga of the iconic archaeologist’s adventures.
Accompanied by the well-known music that John Williams composed 42 years ago for the first film in the series _”Raiders of the Lost Ark” – the team on this fifth Indiana Jones epic was received with a resounding ovation by the thousands of people at the Cannes Palace of Festivals conference center.
Appearing along with Ford and his colleagues on “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” were Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Mads Mikkelsen, Boyd Holbrook, Shaunette Renee Wilson and young Ethann Isidore, the most excited member of the group.
Director James Mangold, who has had the difficult task of replacing Steven Spielberg, who directed the first four Indiana Jones films, was also on hand with the movie team on the red carpet.
Ford, wearing an impeccable and classic tuxedo, passed across the red carpet twice, the first time holding the hand of his wife, actress Calista Flockhart, and the second time with the film team.
Since early Thursday morning, fans were waiting outside the Cannes Palace of Festivals, some of them outfitted as Indiana Jones, although they did not get the chance to take photos with their screen idol, who did not approach them, although Mikkelsen did.
Also appearing on the red carpet was Brazilian indigenous leader and environmentalist Raoni Metuktire, wearing a headdress of green and yellow feathers and his signature lip disk, a well-known figure for his defense of the Amazon jungle and the region’s indigenous cultures.
Also on hand was popular Indian actress Aishwarya Rai, wearing an extravegant semi-rigid silver and black hoodie and overcoat with a long train.
Other well-known faces walking the red carpet on Thursday at Cannes were French composer Jean Michel Jarre with his wife, Chinese actress Gong Li, British director and screenwriter Steve McQueen and Brazilian model Adeiana Lima.
