Massive shelling reported in Ukraine’s Kherson

Lviv, Ukraine, Dec 6 (EFE).- Russian forces have pounded Kherson with massive shelling, authorities in the southern Ukrainian region reported Tuesday.

“The Russians continue to massively bombard the Kherson region with artillery and multiple rocket launchers,” Kherson regional police said in a report, according to Ukrinform.

The Russians are “deliberately targeting apartment buildings and infrastructure facilities in order to cause as much damage as possible and cause casualties among the civilian population,” the report added.

On Monday, power and water outages hit several Ukrainian cities following yet another barrage of Russian strikes against critical infrastructure.

The Kyiv authorities reported Tuesday that around half of the capital’s residents will be left without electricity for several days.

Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in a short video he posted on his Telegram channel that Ukrainian anti-aircraft defenses had managed to shoot down many Russian missiles.

Zaporizhzhia, where the country’s largest nuclear power plant is located, was among the regions targeted by Russian bombing. EFE
