Shelby County Health Department to Offer $125 Kroger Gift Cards during Covid-19 Testing Events in October

SHELBY COUNTY, TN (SCHD/LPL) — The Shelby County Health Department, in partnership with the Shelby County Division of Community Services, is offering $125 Kroger gift cards during free COVID-19 walk-up testing events sponsored by the Health Department during the month of October.

Limited 2 per household, the gift cards will be used to cover basic home and food expenses for individuals who must remain home while awaiting a test result.

The first testing event, which specifically targets the Hispanic community, will be Saturday, October 10th, 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, located at 3825 Neely Rd., Memphis, TN 38109.

The testing is free and available to anyone, age 13 and older, while testing supplies last. Spanish interpretation will be available throughout the testing event.

Each person tested will be asked to provide an address and two telephone numbers, so that they can be contacted within two to three days with the test results.

Testing will be available to those who are asymptomatic and those who have symptoms.

Note: no personal information will be shared with government agencies outside of the Shelby County Health Department and the Tennessee Department of Health.

Free reusable masks will also be provided to everyone who is tested.

CONDADO DE SHELBY, TN (SCHD/LPL) — El Departamento de Salud del Condado de Shelby, en asociación con la División de Servicios Comunitarios del Condado de Shelby, estará ofreciendo tarjetas de regalo de Kroger, de $125 cada una, durante los eventos gratuitos de pruebas del COVID-19 durante el mes de octubre. Este programa es patrocinado por el Departamento de Salud.

Con un límite de 2 tarjetas de regalo por hogar, éstas servirán para cubrir los gastos básicos del hogar y la comida de las personas que deben permanecer en casa mientras esperan el resultado de una prueba.

El primer evento de prueba, que va dirigido específicamente a la comunidad hispana, será el sábado, 10 de octubre, de 10:00 a.m. a 1:00 p.m., en la Iglesia Católica St. Joseph, ubicada en el 3825 Neely Rd., Memphis, TN 38109.

La prueba es gratuita y está disponible para cualquier persona que sea mayor de 13 años; esto es hasta agotar existencias. Además, se contará con un personal bilingüe (inglés y español) para ofrecer servicios de traducción.

También se proporcionarán máscaras reutilizables gratuitas a todos los que se sometan a la prueba.

A cada persona examinada se le pedirá que proporcione una dirección y dos números de teléfono, para que puedan ser contactados dentro de dos o tres días con los resultados de la prueba.

Las pruebas estarán disponibles para quienes tengan síntomas o no.

Por otro lado, cabe mencionar que no se compartirá información personal con agencias gubernamentales fuera del Departamento de Salud del Condado de Shelby y el Departamento de Salud de Tennessee.
