Hong Kong police arrest 4 after finding dismembered body of model

Hong Kong, Feb 26 (EFE).- Hong Kong Police have arrested at least four people in connection with the murder of well-known model Abby Choi, according to a statement released by authorities on Sunday.

Police arrested two men aged 31 and 65, both of whom were charged with murder, and a 63 year-old woman, with one count of perverting the course of justice, after finding parts of the model’s dismembered body in a rental house in Lung Mei Village.

The detainees who were charged on Sunday were the model’s ex-husband’s parents and brother.

Security forces had already detained the model’s ex-husband, Alex Kwong, on Saturday while he was trying to flee on a pier on one of Hong Kong’s outlying islands.

Kwong was on the run and was wanted by authorities over his involvement in a 5 million Hong Kong dollars ($636,000) gold scam.

Choi was reported missing on Wednesday.

On Friday, authorities found the model’s legs in a refrigerator in a house recently rented by her ex-father-in-law.

“A meat slicer, an electric saw and some clothing in suspected connection with the case were seized at scene,” a police statement said.

Choi, who had almost 100,000 followers on Instagram, enjoyed international exposure and appeared on the digital cover of L’Officiel Monaco fashion magazine last week.

She was also seen at the Elie Saab Spring Summer 2023 Haute Couture show in Paris in January.EFE
