Five people sentenced to more than 52 years in prison for child sex abuse

Berlin, Jul 6 (EFE).- Five people were sentenced to a total of 52 and a half years in prison by a court in the west German city of Münster on Tuesday on multiple charges of sexual abuse of children.

The main defendant, a 28-year-old computer scientist identified as Adrian V., was sentenced to 14 years in prison.

He was found guilty of raping his partner’s son, who is now 11-year-old, and for arranging for his co-defendants to abuse the child, among a series of other charges.

Three other men, aged between 31 and 43, were also sentenced to 10 years, 11 years and six months, and 12 years in prison, respectively, for sexually abusing the minor.

The 46-year-old mother of Adrian V., was sentenced to five years in prison for aiding and abetting.

The four men, on whom the court imposed the sentence requested by the prosecution, will be monitored by the security forces after serving their sentences due to the risk of reoffending.

The sentence is not final and can be appealed to a higher court.

The Münster case is one of the three biggest child sex abuse scandals in Germany in recent years.

After the paedophile ring was uncovered in June last year, arrests have been made in several German cities and abroad. In total, more than 50 suspects have been identified, around 30 of whom are in custody.EFE
