Hugh Jackman’s skin cancer biopsies come back clear

Sydney, Australia, Apr 6 (EFE).- Australian actor Hugh Jackman announced on Thursday that two biopsies he had undergone for basal cell carcinoma, a form of skin cancer that has haunted him for years, had come back negative.

“Thank you all for the love. I feel it!” said the 54-year-old actor, who is preparing to play Wolverine, a character from the “X-Men” film franchise, in “Deadpool 3.”

“Please remember to wear sunscreen with a high level of SPF (no matter the season),” he added, in a note posted to his Instagram story.

Jackman had posted a video on Instagram on Tuesday, in which he was seen wearing a small nose bandage.

The actor said that he had had two biopsies done after his doctor saw “little things (that) could be or could not be basal cell.”

This carcinoma, which often appears as a slightly transparent bump on the head or neck and is believed to be caused by prolonged exposure to the sun or ultraviolet radiation, is less likely to spread and grow than melanoma, another type of skin cancer.

Jackman has undergone six skin cancer procedures since 2013.

Australia has one of the highest rates of skin cancer in the world.

Two out of three people in the country develop some form of skin cancer, according to the nonprofit, Skin Check Champions. EFE
