La Paz Christmas parade returns after 3 years with a message of peace

La Paz, Dec 10 (EFE).- After three years, the traditional Christmas parade returned to La Paz on Saturday with a message of “peace, tranquility and forgiveness.”

The parade through the center of the city began at 3 pm local time (19:00 GMT) and lasted for several hours animated by representations of the birth of Christ along with fantasy characters and carols.

“The point is that we need to meet again, that we should have spaces for peace and dialogue so that we can hug each other and be calm,” La Paz Mayor Iván Arias told EFE.

He also stressed the need to spread a message of “peace, tranquility and forgiveness” at the end of a year that saw various difficulties and tensions due to civil protests in the country.

The Christmas parade organized by the municipality of La Paz had participants of all ages and was made up of 150 selected groups including dance academies, choral groups, and defenders of animals.

The last time the Christmas parade was held in La Paz was in 2019 and it was suspended in the following years due to the pandemic. EFE
