Operation Warm Hearts: Winter Clothing and Toy Drive for Children

MEMPHIS, TN (LPL) — Las Escuelas del Condado de Shelby se han unido de nuevo a la campaña comunitaria #GivingTuesday de Memphis, llamada también “Grit.Grind.Give.”, con el propósito de recolectar ropa de invierno nueva, como abrigos y chaquetas, y juguetes para los estudiantes. Dicha campaña se estará llevando a cabo el 27 de noviembre, de 7 AM a 6 PM, durante el evento de “Operation Warm Hearts”, en el edificio de SCS Board of Education (160 S. Hollywood St.).

“Sabemos que el clima invernal hace que muchos estudiantes falten a clases porque no tienen la ropa adecuada para mantenerse abrigados en su camino hacia y desde la escuela todos los días. Cada minuto en el salón de clases cuenta, y creemos que ningún estudiante debe perder un tiempo tan valioso en la escuela debido a factores que están fuera de su control. Afortunadamente, ‘Operation Warm Hearts’ ha ayudado a proporcionar miles de abrigos y prendas de ropa de invierno durante los últimos tres años a los estudiantes que más los necesitan. Este año, también estamos expandiendo la campaña y agregando un poco más de alegría al recolectar juguetes nuevos para distribuirlos entre los estudiantes menos afortunados durante la temporada navideña”, se lee en un comunicado de prensa de SCS.

SCS también invita a las iglesias, organizaciones y negocios locales a formar parte de esta campaña llevando a cabo sus propias colectas. Aquellos que estén interesados deben comunicarse con Talia Palacio en el 901-416-7145.

MEMPHIS, TN (LPL) — Shelby County Schools is joining again the 901 community’s #GivingTuesday campaign – “Grit. Grind. Give.” – to collect new coats, winter clothing and toys for students. This campaign will be held on November 27, from 7 AM to 6 PM, during the “Operation Warm Hearts” event, at the SCS Board of Education building (160 S. Hollywood St.).

“We know that winter weather causes many students to be absent because they don’t have appropriate clothing to keep warm on their way to and from school each day. Every minute in the classroom counts, and we believe no student should ever miss valuable time in school due to factors beyond their control. Thankfully, ‘Operation Warm Hearts’ has helped provide thousands of coats and winter clothing items over the past three years to the students who need them most. This year, we’re also expanding the campaign and adding a little extra joy by collecting new toys to distribute to less fortunate students during the holiday season,” SCS stated in a press release.

SCS also invites churches, organizations and local businesses to take part in this campaign by conducting their own “Operation Warm Hearts” events. Those who are interested should contact Talia Palacio at 901-416-7145.
