On Election Day eve, Biden predicts ‘big win’ against Trump

Philadelphia, US, Nov 2 (efe-epa).- Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden closed his election campaign in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, expressing confidence that he would win big against Republican Donald Trump, who is trailing in the latest polls.

“I know it is not always easy to bring west and east Pennsylvania together but you know what, the (Pittsburg) Steelers got a big win yesterday and the (Philadelphia) Eagles got a big win last night so we can both be happy,” Biden said at the rally.

“And folks, I have a feeling we are coming together for a big win tomorrow,” he thundered, in a nod to the two cities where campaign-closing rallies were held simultaneously on Monday night.

Biden and his running mate, Senator Kamala Harris, campaigned extensively in Pennsylvania, highlighting the importance the Democrats give the state, with its 20 electoral votes in the electoral college and which they lost in 2016 by less than 1 percent.

“I chose western Pennsylvania as my first stop as a candidate and now for my last stop before Election Day because you represent the backbone of this country,” Biden said on a cold evening at a simultaneous event between Pittsburgh and Philadelphia.

The two regions are Democratic strongholds that will not be enough to win the state on Tuesday if the Democrats’ victory does not extend to suburban areas and other industrial belts.

“Tomorrow, we can put an end to a presidency that has left hard-working Americans out in the cold. Tomorrow, we can put an end to a presidency that has divided this nation and fanned the flames of hate. Tomorrow, we can put an end to a presidency that has failed to protect this nation,” he added.

Lady Gaga performed at the event while John Legend performed at the election eve rally for Harris in Philadelphia.

The campaign will remain one of the most unique in history with rallies that people attended in their cars and where they blew the horn rather than clap in crowded parking spaces.

Both Biden and Harris will hold small events on Tuesday and will subsequently await the official results of the elections at their headquarters in Wilmington, Delaware.

However, the results may not be declared by the authorities on that day itself due to a large number of mail votes. EFE-EPA
