Sports Desk, Feb 28 (efe-epa).- An in-form Gareth Bale on Sunday scored twice and assisted on a goal to lead Tottenham Hotspur to a 4-0 win over Burnley in Premier League.
Picking up where he left off a few days ago, when he scored in his team’s 4-0 win over Wolfsberg, Bale put Tottenham in the lead during the opening minutes.
Less than two minutes was all Bale needed to award his coach Jose Mourinho for starting with him as he tapped in a cross by South Korean Heung-Min Son.
At the 15-minute mark, the former Real Madrid forward set up Harry Kane for Spurs’ second goal as the English forward made the most of a long pass from the Welshman and fired into the back of the net.
In the 31st minute, Brazilian forward Lucas Moura increased his team’s lead on a close range powerful shot off a cross from Spanish defender Sergio Reguilon, punishing Burnley for poor defense.
It was not until the 55th minute that Bale completed his brace on a nice left footed shot from inside the area, assisted once again by Son.
After the win, Tottenham hold the eighth spot in the Premier League table with 39 points, on goal differential ahead of Aston Villa, who have a match in hand. Burnley, meanwhile, are 15th with 28 points. EFE-EPA
