Carlos Santana ‘doing well’ after collapsing during US concert
Washington, Jul 5 (EFE).- Legendary guitarist Carlos Santana is “doing well” after collapsing on stage while performing in Michigan on Tuesday, his manager said.
Santana passed out 40-60 minutes into his performance at the Pine Knob Music Theater in Clarkston, and received immediate medical attention, according to concert-goers who posted photos and videos to social media. He was carried off stage approximately 20 minutes later.
“Santana was over-taken by heat exhaustion and dehydration,” his manager Michael Vrionis said in a statement.
The 74-year-old was taken to an emergency room in hospital and is “doing well,” he added.
A show scheduled for Wednesday in Burgettstown, Pennsylvania, has been postponed.
Santana is currently on tour with Earth, Wind & Fire as part of the Miraculous Supernatural Tour, with around 20 summer dates left.
In December the Mexican-American musician took time off following a heart procedure.
He rose to fame with his band Santana, which pioneered a fusion of rock with Latin jazz in the late 1960s and 1970s.
Santana was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998 and has also featured in the Rolling Stone magazine’s list of the 100 greatest guitarists in history. EFE
