Memphis House Fire Blamed on Overheated Cellphone

MEMPHIS, TN (LPL/WMC) — Investigadores dicen que un teléfono celular sobrecalentado causó un incendio en una casa a principios de esta semana.

Los bomberos dicen que el teléfono se sobrecalentó en una habitación mientras se estaba cargando, y comenzó el incendio en Oberle Avenue, justo al lado de North Watkins.

Ocurrió alrededor de las 11:20 a.m. del miércoles. Los bomberos llegaron para encontrar el incendio avanzado.

Nadie resultó herido, pero el incendio causó daños por un valor de $55.000.

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) — Investigators say an overheated cellphone caused a Memphis house fire earlier this week.

Firefighters say the phone overheated in a bedroom while charging, starting the fire on Oberle Avenue just off North Watkins.

It happened around 11:20 a.m. Wednesday. Firefighters arrived to find heavy fire .

No one was hurt but the fire caused $55,000 worth of damage.

Fire investigators say the home did not have a working smoke alarm.
