Ukraine bans Russian music over war

Kyiv, Jun 19 (EFE).- Ukraine’s parliament on Sunday passed a bill banning the broadcast of Russian music on radio and television channels, as well as public performances of Russian musical works, Ukrainian media reported.

Music by artists with Russian citizenship will also be prohibited in the war-ravaged country, Pavel Frolov, a lawmaker from the ruling Servant of the People party, wrote on Telegram.

Russian artists will not be able to perform on tours in Ukraine, except for those who have publicly condemned the Russian invasion of its neighbor.

The restriction will be lifted once the war is over and the Russian-occupied territories return to Ukrainian control, online daily Ukrainskaya Pravda reported.

The import and distribution of books and other printed products from Russia, Belarus and the occupied territories in Ukraine have also been banned, according to Frolov.EFE
