Spain reopens embassy in Kyiv after Sánchez visit

Madrid, Apr 22 (EFE).- Spain officially reopened its embassy in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv on Friday following a visit by prime minister Pedro Sánchez.

The Spanish embassy was temporarily shuttered on February 25, just hours after Russia launched its full-scale invasion of its smaller neighbor.

The diplomatic corps, led by Ambassador Silvia Cortés, and members of the Spanish security forces attended a reopening ceremony Friday to raise Spain’s national flag once again at the embassy grounds.

The move comes a day after Sánchez met Ukraine’s president Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kyiv in a show of support against the Russian invasion.

During his visit, Sánchez announced that Spain was sending an additional 200 tons of military equipment to Kyiv.EFE
