Paint Memphis Plans To Address City Council On Murals

MEMPHIS, TN (LPL) — Debido a un error por parte del equipo de trabajadores de la ciudad se pintó sobre unos murales que habían sido ilustrados gracias al patrocinio de la organización de arte sin fines de lucro Paint Memphis en el área de las avenidas Willet, Lamar y Roland.

La razón del “borrado” de los murales se debe a quejas por parte de miembros del consejo municipal, que calificaron algunas ilustraciones como “satánicas” y dijeron que no representaban a los habitantes del área de las calles que se habían utilizado para pintar los murales.

Hoy en la tarde, Paint Memphis tendrá un encuentro con los miembros del consejo municipal para educarlos acerca de la naturaleza y misión del arte que se ha plasmado en las paredes de esas calles.

Karen Golightly, la representante de Paint Memphis, invitó al público a apoyar la causa artística que busca decorar las calles y combatir el grafiti “ilegal” y el deterioro.

MEMPHIS, TN (LPL) — Due to an error on the part of the team of city workers, it was painted on murals that had been illustrated thanks to the sponsorship of the non-profit art organization Paint Memphis in the area of Willet, Lamar and Roland avenues.

The reason for the “erasure” of the murals were complaints from members of the municipal council who rated some illustrations as “satanic,” and said they did not represent the inhabitants of the area of the streets that had been used to paint the murals.

Today in the afternoon, Paint Memphis will have a meeting with the members of the municipal council to educate them about the nature and mission of the art that has been embodied in the walls of those streets.

Karen Golightly, the representative of Paint Memphis invited the public to support the artistic cause, which seeks to decorate the streets and combat “illegal” graffiti and blight.
