‘Money Heist’ inspires a popular cafe in Pakistan

Islamabad, Nov 10 (EFE).- A recently opened cafe in Pakistan’s mostly-conservative Peshawar city inspired by the popular Spanish Netflix series “La Casa de Papel” (Money Heist) is attracting customers and onlookers alike.

Samiullah Khattak, the owner of “Bella Ciao”, told EFE that both he and his family are huge fans of the Netflix series which led them to open the themed cafe.

All of the cafe’s popular dishes are named after characters from the hit Netflix series such as the Professor’s Pizza, the Professor’s Burger, and the Nairobi Steak.

“We did the soft opening on Oct. 29 and the grand opening is still to happen but the reviews from the customers are amazing,” Khattak told EFE.

The cafe’s staff is dressed in the iconic red jumpsuits and Salvador Dali masks worn by the thieves of the show.

Khattak said that he ordered the iconic red jumpsuits from a local tailor but had to import the masks from Dubai.

The staff escort the customer to their seats and place their order in a black smoky briefcase similar to the one Money Heist characters use to stash stolen money.

Customers can also take pictures with the staff and pose like hostages as they pull an artificial gun to their heads.

“We have a staff of 45 members and have 10 pistols and three briefcases at the cafe,” Khattak revealed.

He said that customers often get startled when they enter or are escorted.

“It’s scarier than we thought it would be,” Fahim Khan, a customer who came with his family, told EFE.

Although there were already several restaurants in the Asian country called “Bella Ciao” that are inspired by the Spanish series, none have gone to the lengths as the one in Peshawar.

The series revolves around a heist carried out by street-smart robbers and masterminded by a character called The Professor. EFE
