At least 107 killed in Gaza in last 24 hours, death toll climbs to 27,238

Jerusalem, Feb 3 (EFE).- At least 107 people were killed in Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 27,238, while some 8,000 bodies are estimated to be buried under the rubble, according to Palestinian authorities.

The health ministry of Gaza, controlled by Islamist group Hamas, said Saturday that the Israeli occupation forces committed 12 massacres against families in the Gaza Strip, claiming the lives of 107 people and leaving 165 wounded during the last 24 hours, Palestinian state news agency Wafa reported.

The total number of people wounded since the outbreak of war between Hamas and Israel following an attack by the former against Israeli territory on Oct. 7, stands at 66,452, according to the ministry, which denounced that Israeli troops were blocking ambulances and civil defense teams from reaching the injured.

On Friday night, the Palestinian Red Crescent (PCRS) reported the death of one of its employees, as well as three other displaced people, after Israeli troops opened fire against the organization’s building in Khan Younis, where thousands of Palestinians have taken refuge.

Six other people were injured, the organization said in a post on X.

According to local medical sources, at least 25 civilians were killed in the last 24 hours in several airstrikes and bombings at dawn in the center and south of the Strip, Wafa reported.

In Rafah, located in the southernmost part of the enclave and where more than 1.1 million displaced Palestinians are living in plastic tents, schools, homes and hospitals, several airstrikes killed at least 14 civilians, many of them children and women.

At least 12 people died early Saturday in an airstrike against the home of the Hijazi family, which had given refuge to dozens of displaced people, according to Wafa, which also reported deadly attacks against another house belonging to the Al-Hams family, in which two people died and an unknown number were injured.

People were also killed in airstrikes against a house in Deir al-Balah, in the center of the Strip, and in the Al-Nasr neighborhood, in Gaza City, where a civilian was killed after receiving a direct shot from an Israeli sniper, according to the news agency. EFE
