Indigenous voices on display at Venice Biennale art show

Venice, Italy, Apr 22 (EFE).- From the indigenous Sami people of Scandinavia to non-binary gender identities in New Zealand, this year’s Biennale Arte fair in Venice is poised to open with a diverse cultural offering.

The 59th International Art Exhibition, which opens its doors to the public on Saturday until November 27, brings together more than 200 artists, the overwhelming majority of whom — some 90% — are women.

The showcase is titled the Milk of Dreams after Leonora Carrington’s book of the same name, a surrealist story of a magical world where characters transform and change.EFE
