Memphis Animal Services Finds Over 150 Pets A New Home For The Holidays

MEMPHIS, TN (FOX 13 News) — A total of 152 pets found a new home Saturday during a 12-hour of Christmas adoption event by the Memphis Animal Services.

In a Facebook post, the animal shelter’s director, Alexis Pugh, thanked the staff and volunteers for the “positive outcomes in one day.”

“Last week, our clinic was a machine,” Pugh wrote. “They did so many surgeries while still providing medical care for the rest of the animals in our building and those coming in each day needing help.”

She highlighted the animal care technicians and customer care specialists who worked long hours that day, volunteers who “gave up a valuable Saturday during the hectic holiday season” to help out and the shelter’s planning committee for putting together an event that “went off without a hitch.”

But Pugh said that the work isn’t done because there are still animals that need to be adopted. On Monday, she noted, officers with the shelter brought in 40 new dogs.

“While I celebrate the achievement of Saturday,” Pugh wrote, “I would be remiss not to put out that one day is not enough.”
