Haaland visits Guardiola

London/Berlin, Apr 5 (EFE-EPA).- While Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City are favorites to win the Uefa Champions League quarter-final first-leg against Borussia Dortmund tomorrow, the focus of the match will almost certainly be placed on the German side’s young star striker Erling Haaland.

With Sergio Aguero on his way out this summer, City have been linked with a potential move for Haaland although Guardiola recently suggested he was out of the club’s price range.

On Saturday, before City’s game against Leicester in the Premier League, Guardiola fervently dismissed discussing the Norwegian international out of respect for his own players.

On Monday, during another press conference ahead of the Dortmund game, he was again pushed for comment but limited his response to: “he is an exceptional striker, he’s a fantastic player.”

Haaland, 20, is one of the hottest properties in European football and currently tops the goal scoring charts in this year’s Champions League with 10, four ahead of Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappe and five others on 6 each.

Man. City’s defensive midfielder Rodri added: “I think his performances have been impressive… He is scoring lots of goals, but we are not focused on one player. Dortmund are a big team in Europe.”

Mino Raiola, Haaland’s agent, and his father Alf-Inge Haaland, a former Manchester City player, were recently spotted in Barcelona and Madrid on an apparent tour of potential suitors for the young striker.

Despite his goal haul so far this year on the European stage, Haaland’s task against Manchester City is far from easy. The Sky Blues have not conceded a goal in Europe in the last 700 minutes of play.

City have only been beaten once in all competitions since 21 November and have conceded just one goal in the Champions League against Porto in the group stages.

But Manchester United showed it was possible to win last month with a 0-2 victory at the Etihad.
