Construction of a U of M pedestrian bridge begins

MEMPHIS, TN (LPL/localmemphis.com) — La construcción del puente peatonal y garaje de $33millones ha comenzado en el campus de la Universidad de Memphis.

Anunciado con mucha fanfarria hace poco más de un año, el proyecto completo promete a los estudiantes un acceso más seguro a través de la vía férrea y Southern Avenue, que separa un gran estacionamiento del campus principal.

Si bien se espera que el puente peatonal se realice a tiempo para el semestre de otoño de 2019, se dice que el estacionamiento se completará antes de eso.

Durante años, los estudiantes han tratado de ganarle al tren para evitar llegar tarde a la clase.

En algunos casos, los estudiantes dicen que los instructores también se retrasan por el tren al cancelar clases.

MEMPHIS, TN (localmemphis.com) — Construction of the $33 Million pedestrian bridge and garage has begun on the campus of the University of Memphis.

Announced with much fanfare a little more than a year ago, the completed project promises students safer access across the railroad track and Southern Avenue, which separates a large parking lot from the main campus.

While the pedestrian bridge is expected to be done in time for the 2019 fall semester, an official says the parking garage will be completed before that.

For years, students have played the game beating the train to avoid being tardy for class.

In some cases, students say instructors are also delayed by the train leading to cancelled classes.
