COGIC Votes to Return its National Convocation to Memphis
MEMPHIS, TN (LPL/WREG) — Memphis pronto tendrá su convención más grande en la ciudad. La Iglesia de Dios en Cristo (COGIC, por sus siglas en inglés) votó el lunes por la noche para devolver su convocatoria anual al Medio Sur.
Es un movimiento que inyectará millones de dólares a la economía. El obispo Brandon Porter, dijo que había estado negociando con la ciudad, la convención y la Oficina de Visitantes durante un tiempo.
La ciudad ha prometido apoyar financieramente la mudanza. COGIC dice que las habitaciones de hotel adicionales que se están construyendo y las renovaciones en el Centro de Convenciones de Cook también jugaron un papel importante en su decisión.
La primera convocatoria para regresar a Memphis será en 2021 con un compromiso de tres años. La sede de COGIC siempre ha permanecido en Memphis en Mason Temple.

“El Obispo Blake, presidente de la Iglesia, dice” la Iglesia de Dios en Cristo desde 2010 ha celebrado nuestra convención más grande, la Santa Convocación en St. Louis, MO y hoy votamos para trasladar la convención en 2021-2023 a la ciudad de Memphis, TN. El obispo Blake también afirma: “La ciudad de Memphis tiene un significado especial en la vida espiritual y cultural de COGIC y nos complace volver al lugar de nuestro origen”.

MEMPHIS, TN (WREG) — Memphis will soon have its largest convention back in the city. The Church of God in Christ voted on Monday night to return its annual convocation to the Mid-South.
It’s a move that will pump millions of dollars into the economy. We spoke with Bishop Brandon Porter who said they’ve been negotiating with the city, convention and Visitor’s Bureau for a while.
The city has promised to financially support the move. COGIC says the additional hotel rooms being built and renovations to the Cook Convention Center also played a major role in their decision.
The first convocation to return to Memphis will be in 2021 with a three year commitment. COGIC’s headquarters has always remained in Memphis at Mason Temple.
COGIC released a statement that saying:
“Presiding Bishop Blake, says “the Church of God in Christ since 2010 has held our largest convention, the Holy Convocation in St. Louis, MO and today we voted to move the convention in 2021-2023 to the city of Memphis, TN. Bishop Blake also states, “The City of Memphis has special significance in the spiritual and cultural life of COGIC and we are pleased to return to the place of our origin.”
