Israeli forces kill Palestinian woman in West Bank raid

Jerusalem, Nov 14 (EFE).- A Palestinian woman was shot dead Monday during an Israeli military raid in the central part of the occupied West Bank, the Palestinian health ministry said.

Sana al-Tal, 19, died after “being shot in the head by Israeli occupation soldiers during an incursion into Beitunia” town, west of Ramallah, according to a ministry statement.

The Israeli military said soldiers conducted counterterrorism operations in several areas in the West Bank, including Beitunia, where they were on an arrest raid.

“During the operation, the soldiers detected a suspicious vehicle and ordered it to stop, but the car instead accelerated toward them. This prompted the troops to shoot,” a military spokesman told local media.

Israeli forces have been conducting raids and arrest operations in the West Bank on a near-daily basis for over six months, following several deadly attacks against Israelis between March and April.

They often result in armed clashes with Palestinians and the death of civilians.

Some 145 Palestinians, including many civilians and children, have been killed in military operations, clashes or lone attacks so far this year, the deadliest since 2006.

Twenty-four Israelis, including 17 civilians, have died in the wave of violence.EFE
