It will be very physically demanding at Getafe, says Zidane

Madrid, Apr 17 (EFE).- Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane on Saturday said that the upcoming La Liga game at Getafe would pose a physical challenge for the already exhausted team.

Over an eight-day stretch, the Spanish powerhouse played three crucial, big-caliber games, taking down Liverpool 3-1 on aggregate for a Champions League semifinal berth and Barcelona 2-1 in La Liga action.

Real Madrid did so with several first-choice players sidelined due to injury, including Sergio Ramos among others.

“It has been 10 intense days with demanding games, we know that, but we know the situation and the important thing is that we are very well emotionally,” Zidane said during a presser on the eve of their away game.

“Players are smart and they must recover taking care of the details. We have to be prepared when it is time to play. It will be a very physically demanding match, but there is no other way, we know the situation,” he added.

Although Dani Carvajal appears to be ready for action, after a two-month absence due to injury, the Frenchman did not reveal whether or not he will make his return against Getafe.

“With more cautious because they are relapses and you have to be more attentive, that is what we are all doing. It will be seen in the squad list but Dani and Eden are both better and it is good for the team,” he said.

Eden Hazard has been training with the group for two matches, although he was ruled out of the roster after yet another spell on the sidelines due to injury.

“He is much better and what he wants is to return with the team,” Zidane said. “Tomorrow there is a game and we will see if he is with us,” he added without providing more details.

Adding to Real Madrid’s defensive injury woes was the recent news that Ferland Mendy is ruled out of the Getafe game with an injury.

Raphael Varane, Ramos, Nacho and Lucas Vázquez are all absent from the back line.
