Jill Biden meets with Ukrainian refugee mothers in Romania

Bucharest, May 7 (EFE).- United States first lady Jill Biden and her Romanian counterpart Carmen Iohannis on Saturday met Ukrainian refugee mothers and their children during a visit to a Bucharest school.

“Today in Bucharest, First Lady Carmen Iohannis and I are visiting Scoala Gimnaziala Uruguay, a Romanian school that has opened its classrooms to Ukrainian refugee students,” she wrote on Twitter.

Jill Biden praised the attitude of both Ukrainian refugee mothers and teachers who have started teaching in Bucharest and other Romanian cities after fleeing the Russian invasion, the Romanian Agerpres news agency reported.

Since Russian began its invasion of Ukraine on February 24, over 900,000 Ukrainians have fled to Romania, mostly women and children.

Manny have gone on to other European countries.

The US first lady’s European tour will end on Monday in Slovakia, from where she will fly back to Washington. EFE
