Dnipro apartment block hit as Russia launches wave of strikes

Lviv, Ukraine, Jan 14 (EFE).- Air raid alerts were triggered across Ukraine on Saturday amid a fresh wave of Russian strikes, including one that hit a residential building in the city of Dnipro, Ukrainian officials said.

Kyrylo Tymoshenko, the deputy head of president Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s office, said 15 people were rescued from the rubble of the multi-storey apartment building in Dnipro, located in eastern Ukraine, but that the number of possible fatalities had yet to be clarified.

Rescue operations at the site of the attack, which caused the building to partially collapse, would continue into the night, the official added.

Tymoshenko shared images on social media that showed a significant chunk of the building had subsided.

Russia also launched strikes against infrastructure targets in the capital Kyiv, as well as the cities of Kharkiv in the northeast and Lviv in the far west, authorities reported. EFE
