Joined by child refugees, pope urges world not to forget Ukraine’s plight

Vatican City, Jun 22 (EFE).- Pope Francis on Wednesday said the conflict in Ukraine should not be forgotten as he was joined by refugee children during an audience at the Vatican.

“Let us not forget Ukraine, let us not lose the memory of the suffering of that martyred people,” the pope said at the conclusion of the audience nearly four months into the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

“The children who were with me in the popemobile were Ukrainian children,” he added.

Francis arrived at Saint Peter’s Square aboard the popemobile with the three children, who accompanied him while he blessed babies and greeted some of the thousands of faithful gathered at the Vatican to see the pontiff. EFE
