Joint Spanish-US police operation breaks up bank card fraud ring
Madrid, Feb 3 (efe-epa).- The Spanish National Police and the United States Secret Service have dismantled a criminal network based in Miajades, western Spain, that had stolen over 12 million euros in several countries through bank card fraud.
Some 105 people were arrested following the joint investigation, which began 18 months ago, US ambassador to Spain Duke Buchanan III told a press conference on Wednesday.
“This case is a fine example — I can think of no other — of the importance of partnerships between law enforcement agencies,” Buchanan said.
“The secret service and our relationship with the Spanish National Police, in my opinion a premier law enforcement agency, has been exemplary,” he said, adding that “without this, a case of this complexity would be nowhere today.” EFE-EPA
