José Luis Escobar, Well-Known Personality in the City, Dies

MEMPHIS, TN (LPL) — José Luis Escobar Rangel, a sports promoter and a well-known person in the Memphis community, has recently passed away.
Born in Ciudad Valle De Santiago, Guanajuato, Mexico, Escobar was a Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force and graduated from Christian Brothers University.
In addition to being an active member of the community, he was a tireless promoter of youth soccer in various categories.
Family and friends are preparing tributes in his memory.
A tribute of gratitude will be held on the soccer fields of the May Sports Complex (6415 Quince Rd., Memphis TN 38119), where most of their teams played, on Sunday, June 26, at 10 AM.
On Saturday, July 2, there will be a visitation at 10 AM, followed by Mass at St. Anne Catholic Church, located at 706 South Highland St. in Memphis, TN 38111.
The funeral procession will then depart to Memorial Park Funeral Home (5668 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN 38119).

MEMPHIS, TN (LPL) — José Luis Escobar Rangel, promotor del deporte y conocido en la comunidad de Memphis, falleció recientemente.
Oriundo de Ciudad Valle De Santiago, Guanajuato, México, y egresado de la Universidad Christian Brothers, Escobar fue Sargento en la Fuerza Aérea de los EE.UU.
Además de haber sido un miembro activo de la comunidad, Escobar también fue un incansable promotor del fútbol “soccer” juvenil en varias categorías.
Familiares y amigos lamentan su pérdida y preparan homenajes en su memoria.
Se realizará un homenaje de gratitud en las canchas de fútbol del Complejo Deportivo May (6415 Quince Rd., Memphis TN 38119), donde la mayoría de sus equipos jugaban, el domingo, 26 de junio, a las 10 AM.
El sábado, 2 de julio, se hará una visitación a las 10 AM, seguida por una misa en la Iglesia Católica Santa Ana, localizada en el 706 South Highland St., Memphis TN, 38111.
Posteriormente partirá el cortejo fúnebre hacia el Memorial Park Funeral Home, en el 5668 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN 38119.
