K-pop group Blackpink to offer first online concert later this month

Seoul, Dec 3 (efe-epa).- South Korean k-pop band Blackpink will offer its first online concert on Dec. 27 in collaboration with YouTube, its record label YG Entertainment reported Thursday.

The recital, called “Blackpink: the Show,” will be the first performance of the female group in 10 months. Its members have not been on stage since they closed their successful world tour “In your area” on Feb. 22 in Fukuoka, Japan.

The group made up of Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé and Lisa will host a press conference Friday on YouTube to provide more details about the concert, which will start at 2:00 pm local time (5:00 GMT.)

Blackpink is one of the biggest current phenomena in South Korean music and on Oct. 2 released their first studio album “The Album,” becoming the first female k-pop group to sell more than 1 million units.

In mid-October, a documentary about the group’s career titled “Blackpink: Light Up the Sky” was also released on Netflix.

It is also one of the most followed bands on YouTube, with 53.9 million subscribers.

Its music videos have more than 3 billion views, with 2018 hit “Ddu-du Ddu-du” surpassing 1,4 billion clicks. EFE-EPA
