Kane, Sterling lead England 4-0 over Hungary

Sports Desk, Sep 2 (EFE).- England’s perfect record in the European qualifiers for World Cup 2022 remained intact Thursday as the Three Lions pounded Hungary 4-0 in front of nearly 60,000 people at Puskas Arena in Budapest.

With 12 points from four matches, the English enjoy a 5-point edge over Poland and Hungary.

Though the visitors dominated from the start, the Hungarians were solid at the back for the opening 45 minutes.

England captain Harry Kane fired over the cross-bar in the 20th minute and Hungary’s Dominik Szoboszlai did likewise on a free-kick in the 40th.

The Three Lions picked up the pace in the second half and Kane forced Hungary goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi into action with a strike in the 49th minute.

The breakthrough came four minutes later when Raheem Sterling scored with an assist from Mason Mount.

Kane made it 2-0 in the 63rd minute, heading in a cross from Sterling. Harry Maguire extended the advantage in the 69th and Declan Rice added a fourth goal with three minutes left in regulation. EFE mn/dr
