Barcelona, Spain, Jul 4 (EFE).- Barcelona on Monday announced that Franck Kessie would join the LaLiga club as a free agent for four years.
“FC Barcelona and Franck Yannick Kessie have reached an agreement for the player to join Barça after the end of his contract with AC Milan,” the Catalan club said in a statement.
The contract of the Ivorian midfielder will include a 500-million-euro buyout clause, Barca added.
The 25-year-old will be presented to the media on Wednesday, a day before former Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen is revealed to the fans as a Barcelona player, according to the club president Joan Laporta.
Kessie, 25, has spent most of his career in Italy since 2014 when he joined Atalanta who loaned him to Serie B’s Cesena for playing minutes.
A year later, he returned to Atalanta where he emerged as one of Serie A’s most promising midfielders.
Then, he drew the attention of AC Milan, who signed him on a long-term deal in 2019 following a loan spell.
Kessie collected 37 goals and 16 assists in 223 games he played throughout his five-season Milan adventure. EFE
