MEMPHIS, TN (LPL) — Urban Earth ofrecerá una charla gratuita para escuchar al experto Mike Larrivee hablar sobre el movimiento de las plantas nativas en general y las plantas nativas de Memphis.

La charla será el sábado, 24 de marzo, de 1 p.m. a 2 p.m., en Urban Earth, que está ubicado en el 80 Flicker St., Memphis, TN 38104.

Larrivee es un licenciado en Geología que trabaja en la remediación del petróleo como consultor ambiental. Recibió su maestría en Ciencias, del departamento de Ciencias de la Tierra de la Universidad de Memphis, y es becario de la fundación William J. Fulbright. Fue director del Proyecto Giant Hogweed en Europa del Este, una iniciativa centrada en la capacitación de científicos ciudadanos sobre cómo identificar y catalogar especies invasoras con el fin de desarrollar estrategias de control y erradicación. Es asesor técnico de Memphis Tree Board y presidente del Comité de Sostenibilidad de Cooper-Young. Es cofundador y director ejecutivo de The Compost Fairy, una iniciativa de construcción de suelos sin fines de lucro destinada a desviar materiales orgánicos valiosos del vertedero, devolverlos a la comunidad como tierra vegetal y crear empleos a largo plazo en el sector de la sostenibilidad. También se enorgullece de ser un líder operativo y ecólogo urbano para el proyecto South Memphis Trees, que está en las primeras etapas de plantar cuatro millones de árboles en terrenos baldíos y vacíos dentro de Memphis.

Larrivee es un evangelista de plantas nativas y seguidor de todas las cosas verdes y buenas.

MEMPHIS, TN (LPL) — Urban Earth will host a free talk event where Mike Larrivee will be discussing the general native plant movement along with the native plants of Memphis.

The talk event will be on Saturday, March 24, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., at Urban Earth, which is located at 80 Flicker St., Memphis, TN 38104.

Larrivee is a Licensed Professional Geologist who works in petroleum remediation as an environmental consultant. He holds a Master of Science from the University of Memphis’ Earth Science Department and is a William J Fulbright scholar. He was the director of the Giant Hogweed Project in Eastern Europe, an initiative focused on training citizen scientists on how to identify and catalogue invasive species in order to develop control and eradication strategies. He is a technical adviser to the Memphis Tree Board, and the chairman of the Cooper-Young Sustainability Committee. He is the co-founder and CEO of The Compost Fairy, a non-profit soil building initiative aimed at diverting valuable organic materials from the landfill, returning them to the community as topsoil, and creating long term jobs in the sustainability sector. He is also proud to be an operational lead and urban ecologist for the South Memphis Trees’ project, which is in the first stages of planting four million trees on vacant and fallow lands in Memphis.

Larrivee is a native plant evangelist.
