Kim Jong-un reappears with his daughter at public event

Seoul, Feb 26 (EFE).- North Korea’s leader has appeared again in public with his daughter in a photo session published Sunday by state media.

Kim Jong-un attended a ceremony in the Sopho area of Pyongyang on Saturday, along with his daughter, whose age and name have not been released (although it is believed she may be named Kim Ju-ae), to inaugurate a construction project of some 4,100 homes, according to KCNA on Sunday.

Images show Kim applauding with his daughter, as well as with several members of his government, a new example of how Kim Ju-ae is gaining greater presence in public life by attending important events of the regime.

The increasing presence of Kim’s daughter on prominent occasions such as the 75th anniversary of the founding of the North Korean army has sparked speculation about his intentions.

The girl appeared in state media for the first time on Nov. 19 last year, when she accompanied her father to witness the test of an intercontinental ballistic missile.

North Korean media rarely disseminates information about close relatives of the Kim dynasty, which has ruled the country with an iron fist since the 1940s, and she had until then been no exception, since state propaganda had never even acknowledged her existence before.

Her presence has sparked speculation about the possibility that Kim is designating her as his successor, although most experts believe that it is too soon and that the regime may simply want to portray the leader as a family man. EFE
