Kyrgios tests positive for Covid ahead of Australian Open

Madrid, Jan 10 (EFE).- Nick Kyrgios on Monday announced he had withdrawn from the Sydney International, a tuning up event ahead of the Australian Open, after testing positive for Covid-19.

“The reason I have had to pull out of Sydney is because I tested positive for Covid,” the Australian posted on social media, a week before the first Grand Slam event of the season gets underway.

The 26-year-old had quit the Melbourne Summer Set, which came to an end on Sunday, due to physical issues.

World No.113, however, did not rule out his participation at the Australian Open: “If all goes well, I will see you all at The Australian Open,” he added. EFE
