Neymar, Vini Jr, named in Brazil’s World Cup squad

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Nov 7 (EFE).- Neymar Jr., Vinícius Jr., Rodrygo, Raphinha and Richarlison were among nine forwards called up for the Brazilian national team’s World Cup squad on Monday.

Widely seen as favorites to win the 2022 Qatar World Cup, Brazil coach Tite also brought in Arsenal talent Gabriel Martinelli but left out Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino and Philippe Coutinho, who was injured on the run up to the competition.

Tite also included 39-year-old Dani Alves, who is currently playing in Mexico.

The 26-man squad named for the World Cup is as follows:

Goalkeepers: Alisson (Liverpool), Éderson (Manchester City) and Wéverton (Palmeiras)

Defenders: Marquinhos (PSG), Thiago Silva (Chelsea), Éder Militao (Real Madrid), Daniel Alves (Pumas), Danilo (Juventus), Bremer (Juventus), Alex Telles (Sevilla) and Alex Sandro (Juventus)

Midfielders: Casemiro (Manchester United), Fabinho (Liverpool), Fred (Manchester United), Bruno Guimaraes (Newcastle), Lucas Paquetá (West Ham) and Éverton Ribeiro (Flamengo)

Forwards: Neymar (PSG), Vinícius Junior (Real Madrid), Richarlison (Tottenham), Raphinha (Barcelona), Gabriel Jesus (Arsenal), Pedro (Flamengo), Rodrygo (Real Madrid), Antony (Manchester United) and Gabriel Martinelli (Arsenal). EFE cm/jt
