Kyiv, Sep 25 (EFE).- A total of 34 Russian military officers were killed as a result of a missile attack by Ukraine on the headquarters of the Black Sea Fleet, including its commander Viktor Sokolov, the Ukrainian armed forces posted on Telegram, according to the state-owned Ukrinform agency on Monday.

“A strike on the headquarters of the Russian Black Sea Fleet killed 34 officers, including the commander of the Russian Black Sea Fleet. Another 105 occupiers were wounded. The headquarters building cannot be restored,” the report said.

The Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine also provided an update on the special operation to destroy the Minsk large landing ship on Sep. 13.

“Given that the Minsk large landing ship was supposed to go on combat duty the next day, the personnel were present at the ship. Irreversible losses amounted to 62 occupiers,” the statement added.

The Minsk large landing ship and the headquarters of the Russian Black Sea Fleet are situated in the port of Sevastopol in the Crimea, which was annexed by Russia in 2014.

In recent weeks, Ukraine has intensified its operations against Russian forces in Crimea using naval and air drones and missiles that have destroyed defense systems and damaged Russian military ships and submarines, according to the authorities at Kyiv. EFE
