New York, Aug 8 (EFE).- A series of photos leaked by guests invited to former President Barack Obama’s 60th birthday celebration showed details of the party jammed with celebrities that took place on Saturday night on Martha’s Vineyard, the exclusive Massachusetts island.
The Obamas organized a large event at their mansion located on the island despite the fact that their spokesperson said last week that the guest list had been downsized to include only relatives and close friends due to the recent resurgence of Covid-19 in the US, as The New York Post and other media reported Sunday.
Invited guests such as rapper Trap Beckham, singer Erykah Badu and manager TJ Chapman posted photos they had taken at the bash on the social networks – photos that included the menu, the decorations and other details of the event, along with invitations and napkins that were specially printed in gold ink for the occasion with the logo “44×60” – since Obama was the 44th US president and was celebrating his 60th birthday.
Actor George Clooney, director Steven Spielberg and talk-show host Oprah Winfrey were among the 475 people who received invitations to the celebration, where the band Pearl Jam played and where all the invited guests had to undergo a Covid test before attending, according to US media.
Although few details are known about the event, the online daily The Hill reported that it included performances by rapper Beckham and singers Alicia Keyes and John Legend, and that among the dinner options were steak, chicken and shrimp with sides of rice, vegetables and potatoes.
In addition, bottles of liquor, cocktails, desserts and cigars were reported at the party, where some of the guests smoked pot, the consumption of which is legal in Massachusetts.
“Had to delete everything due to the rules,” Beckham explained late on his social network accounts. “It was epic for sure. If any videos surface it’s going viral. He danced the whole time. Nobody ever seen Obama like this before.”
